Psicocumbia, trance, tropicalcosmic
First single
Gritando
La Chispeza lets out a cry from the soul, swung in cumbia folk. It’s the soundtrack of an inner search between two drinks, born from hard times and chaos. A vibrant, slightly insolent answer to what the world expects. Roots, trance and a sense of humour, all at once.

The band
La Chispeza isn’t a postcard fusion. It comes from sleepless nights and from mixing cumbia and trance without asking permission. It all started in Nantes, where we realised our music hit the same spot. Root sounds, tight cables and the energy of a party that doesn’t know how to stop.
In Nantes we built a sound that smells of the sea, the Andes and late concert nights. Cumbia, folk, roots: all in the same fire.
Cristian Zárate
Vocals, clarinet, bass clarinet, tambor alegre
Singer and clarinettist, Cristian Zárate brings vocal energy and woodwind textures to the band, set against the traditional, hypnotic rhythm of the tambor alegre.
Cyrille Maillard
Timbales, backing vocals
On rhythm and percussion, Cyrille Maillard drives the La Chispeza sound with his timbales and backing vocals.
Jean-Patrick Cosset
Organ, synthesizer
Through collaborations with artists from every background, Jean-Patrick Cosset has shaped a voice across jazz, soul, funk, pop, world music and, more recently, solo piano.

He also works on cross-disciplinary shows mixing film, dance and theatre.
JuanCa Astudillo
Ronroco, percussion, backing vocals
On ronroco and percussion, JuanCa Astudillo weaves the folk harmonies and ancestral rhythms that give the band its identity.
